Random Acts

Gloucester County Community Relations Random Acts Of

 Kindness (RAK) Program

"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded." - Maya Angelou (B.1928); American Autobiographer, Poet

DEFINITION

A random act of kindness (RAK) is a selfless act performed by a person or persons wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual or in some case an animal. There will generally be no reason other than to make people smile, or be happier.

GOAL

The GCCR seeks to recognize and reward individuals up to 18 years of age who have engaged in Random Acts of Kindness towards fellow students/teachers at their school, their neighborhood or their community. At times adults become too focused on the negative stories involving young individuals and lose sight of the good work being done by young individuals throughout this area.

HOW IT WORKS

We ask parents, teachers, fellow students to nominate an individual or group of individuals who have engaged in a RAK. We ask businesses, civic groups, churches, and individuals to consider donating prizes to be used to reward worthy individuals who have engaged in a RAK. With the permissions of the recipient, we will send out a media release highlighting their RAK.
